Believe it or not, the same theory can be applied to our Health Goals. It's great to decide to get healthy! That's a big first step! Yeah! However, the initial decision has to be backed up with action for it to take root and grow.
One of the best ways to get healthy is to make a decision to eat healthy and then to cook food at home.
Time is always an issue- FOR EVERYONE... I get so tired of hearing women with serious life threatening health issues who claim, "I don't have time to cook". Let me let you in on a little secret, you have time for what you want to have time for (deep, I know...but true!)
So, listen to teacher: Pick one weekend a season and cook to fill your freezer with healthy food choices. I usually do this in the Fall and Winter for Soups, Stews, Chili's, etc... Summer for making granola's, drying fruits, freezing fruits and Spring for cleaning out what needs to be eaten/used up/ tossed... It's not perfect, but it works. If I have something I can pull out of the freezer that will provide my family with a healthy yummy dinner, I am far less likely to pick up a CostCo chicken and pre-made veggie dish... (Salt, preservatives, chemicals, msg,...). Yes, it takes a weekend, so stop whining and do it. Yes, you have to shop for, clean, cut, dice, cook, cool, freeze, and clean up. Yes, the weekend goes fast and is exhausting, but not as exhausting as being fat and sick... ~Be Healthy ~Be Strong ~Be Prepared!!!
