Often, resistance to change is a natural reflex... listening to the music we like from the era we were brought up in, wearing the same hairstyle, or style of clothing that "we've always worn". We resist change sometimes out of a sense of familiarity, laziness, or fear. Change can be scary!!
However, resisting change often leads to growing old before our time, we get stuck in a rut. It's important that we learn how to use the new remote for the tv, the new computer, the newest i-Phone. We need to try new foods and visit new places. It's good to buy a different shade of lipstick, or try a new hairstyle, or paint the kitchen a new color. None of these changes are permanent and each can easily be changed back.
If you find that you are becoming an "old stick in the mud" and resistant to changes in all form, then my suggestion is to start small and shake it up a bit. Make a small, easily reversible change, get used to it and then make another. Remember, some changes are changes for the better.
